Users must safeguard computer accounts provided by the University. All users must respect the privacy of other users and their accounts, regardless of whether those accounts are securely protected. All users must adhere to the finite capacity of those resources and limit use so as not to consume an unreasonable amount of those resources or to interfere unreasonably with the activity of other users.
The University may require users to limit or refrain from specific uses. Faculty and staff must refrain from using Computing Resources for personal commercial purposes or financial or other gain. Further limits may be imposed upon personal use in accordance with normal supervisory procedures.
All users must refrain from stating or implying that they speak on behalf of the University and from using University trademarks and logos without authorization to do so. Faculty and staff must refrain from unauthorized distribution or sharing of proprietary information outside of the university domain.
This monitoring may include, for example, the length and frequency of login sessions and communications. Any such individual monitoring must be specifically authorized in advance by the President or designee, Provost, or the Chief Business Officer.
The University, in its discretion, may disclose the results of any such general or individual monitoring, including the contents and records of individual communications. Alleged violations by students will normally be handled in accordance with the University Code of Student Conduct.
